Ernesto Valdez

ErnieSmErnesto Valdez principal partner of Gunby Construction with Daryl Gunby, was born in Mexico and moved to Atlanta in 1981. Starting as a Master Carpenter for a local construction company Ernesto moved into a supervisory role early in the 90s. As a Project Superintendent and Laser Screed Supervisor Ernesto oversaw early Gunby Construction projects such as Stonecrest Mall, The Georgia Dome and the Centergy Center Parking Garage.

Now in the General Superintendent position, Ernesto has managed all aspects of managing construction projects and led teams from Georgia to Arizona. These include projects for new Walmarts/Sam Clubs in Valdosta, Hahira, Douglasville and Monroe Georgia. The two largest projects that standout for the company and Ernesto are the Atlantic Station and Philips Arena developments where many challenges were faced and successfully overcome.Ernie Valdez

As a shareholder / Operations Manager in the early 2000's, Ernesto focused on taking his Hispanic advantage to the City of Atlanta and the GA Department of Transportation, established Gunby Construction Co. as a leader in minority businesses.

In 2002, Ernesto became the majority shareholder and President of Gunby Construction Co., Inc. He has been awarded the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Small Minority Business Owner of the Year. His work with every major General Contractor in the Southeast of the USA has made him the most sought after concrete construction manager. Ernesto is also the center of Atlanta's newest high profile project, the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal at HJAIA.
